Drumond Park - Pig Goes Pop! Game Review

What is it?

Pig goes Pop box and pig
It's a fun table top game for juniors!

This game is simply brilliant. The rules are simple; Roll the dice, pick a burger matching the colour, feed the pig (and push down his head the amount of times on the nicely detailed burger) 'till he goes pop! The player who makes him go pop is the loser!

No reams of rules, not even one page, its all on the back of the box! Literally playing in seconds! Just what you need for an inpatient child who just wants to play as quickly as possible!

I was impressed by the clever mechanism, which with every push of the pigs head, his belly inflates! Then you let him down again with his curly tail at the back.

What the boy thought?

Well, my Son loved this game. From the excitement of checking what number was on the burgers (to know how many times to push piggy's head) to the inflating of piggy's belly (and the popping of his belt!).

Sooo many "Oh", "Oh, nearly!", "is he gonna pop!?.." we had a great time with this! When I asked my Son what he thought, I got back "Das weally good" and "Very funny!" he thought it was simply hilarious when the pig went "POP!".

The Final Verdict

Only two things struck me as could do better. The mechanism must pop when you push the pig's head a number of times, it would be a little better if this changed from game to game. You have the different numbers on the burgers so that's supposed to vary the amount of pieces you have left but it seems like we always end up with about the same amount. This kind of takes away the surprise as you know the "POP!" is coming.

I like how detailed the burgers are! maybe different food could be used in later editions? Do pigs like Pizza? One other tiny detail was the dice - the images are stuck with stickers instead of actually printed?

The above being said, I love that this game is so easy to play and not messy. I definitely foresee many more nights of giggles playing this!! A really good family game which I think could be for even younger players (currently 4+) if helped by parents!
