Wanna get fit? Be a MISFIT, and SHINE! Fit Watch Review!

What is it?

The Misfit SHINE, is a sports monitor watch, which does style versatility at it's best! Just a quick look at their online shop will give you lots of ideas on where and how to carry the SHINE. There's also lots of accessories to help you integrate the shine to your daily life.

What I think?

It struck me on first sight, how small the Shine is. There's a few of these types of watches in the market and most look quite difficult to use, and more like sports watches so only appeal to gym goers..this however doesn't have ANY buttons at all and is very sleek in design.

Set up is VERY simple, turn on bluetooth, sign in with facebook or sign up and touch the device to your phone, it will sync automatically and you can then enter your details for it to take into account what kind of user you are. You can also set your goal which works by doing a set amount of walking running or swimming!

At first I'll admit I had a few syncing problems..however this is completely fine now, I must have put the battery in wrong or something..

Once it's up and running, the app can work out what types of activity you've been doing and logs it all for you and a few taps of the dial will give you the time and how far you are to completing your goal. There's the option of a calorie count which is currently a little flawed. 652 calories in 16 steps is a little excessive..

You can also set a goal of sleep! YAY! I LOVE SLEEP!! I'm good at keeping to these goals! It also tells you how much DEEP sleep you've had, which is pretty clever.. You can even set an alarm with this function too.

Of course there's a weight goal function too, which works with the motion counter and updates you as the days go that if you carry on the way you are you will weigh x in 5 weeks etc. Also very useful.

The app for the Shine is extremely easy to use and is even better used with the MyFitnessPal app, as it takes the info from the Shine app and adds it to the food diary giving you that little bit more assistance with loosing/maintaining weight and exercising!

For the Shine device, there's some great looking accessories to be purchased from the Misfit website, check out this Leather strap! Makes you wanna wear the Shine as a "regular" watch right?

The Verdict

All the style boxes are ticked with this gadget, good monitoring and paired with the MyfitnessPal app, you can't go wrong with the Shine, for me, it was a good opportunity to see what I've actually been eating and give me motivation to snack less and eat healthier!

The Shine will be available from November at John Lewis for a cool £99.95! More product photo's, information and accessories at the Misfit Website!
