In light of all our US friends enjoying the Star Wars Celebration Convention in Anaheim, I thought I'd complete this and post..
So I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts he other night (Galaxy of Toys) and they confirmed that for ONCE the U.S. doesn't have what we have here in the U.K! For ages I've been saying we are in the wrong country for Star Wars content..
I take BACK these words! We have the Star Wars Rebels Magazine!!!
So here is it, in all it's glory ONLY £2.99!!! and unlike alot of kids magazines, the toys you get are terrible! cheap and plastic'y, on this months edition there is a pencil case and 3 pencils, with 2 erasers. Two pencils have a shiny red covering, for the inquisitors saber; the eraser acts as the actual hilt... the other is a shiny blue for Ezra's lightsaber, again with an eraser for the hilt:
Page by Page Summary!
Page 1 : The front page is considered as page 1, that's above :)
Page 2 : There's an Imperial Poster graffiti-ed by Rebels.
Page 3 : A Lowdown of all the rebels, just a short sentence about each, it says Kanan is the leader.. I always thought Hera as the leader though?..
Page 4 : Puzzle page with Who's who of the Rebels disguised as Stormtroopers. There's also a neat Code cracker type puzzle using Aurabesh!
Page 5 - 10 : Part 1 of an Awesome Comic! - The comic is about a Jedi impostor and of course the inquisitor crashes their party! I love the graphics and the action sequence is pretty cool too! The humour is a tiny bit off, but it's probably due to the demographic of 6-11 year olds.. My son would love this!
Page 11 : A Competition to win some cool LEGO Microfighters! Of course I've entered! I MEAN MY SON HAS! Hehe..
Page 12 - 13 : A Fact File on the ships Tough Guy! ZEB! (My Favorite Rebels Character!) There's a little about his skills and also some interesting facts!
Page 14 - 15 : More Puzzles! A kind of find the odd helmets out of Ezra's collection. Also a Chopper Droid Maze.
Page 16 : Draw A Jedi! It's one of those copy the picture using squares, just an outline so you could just create your own character too!
Pages 17 - 20 : Double sided poster! On one side a picture of Sabine Wren, helmet off graffitiing a wall (and a Stormtrooper's head!) The other side is a mean sketchy drawn poster of the Inquisitor and some Stormtroopers.
Page 21 : Spot the difference!
Page 22 - 27 : Part 2 of the Awesome Comic!
Page 28 - 29 : Which Rebel are you? Basically Yes and No questions which lead to being most like: Sabine, Ezra or Kanan! To my delight I'm most like Kanan!!!
Pages 30 - 31 : A Fact File on Kanan's Lightsaber! The lowdown on Kanan's unique 2 part lightsaber, some great close up images here!
Page 32 - 33 : More Puzzles -
Find Kanan's Holocron - A Where's Wally type picture puzzle.
Ruthless Rebel! - From the shadows find which Rebel is hiding!
Know Your Enemy - Match the close up pictures with the Imperial Vehicles!
Page 34 : A Fact File on the Stormtroopers, just a single page with a few facts about the 'Stormies'..
Page 35 : A preview of next weeks issue- It boasts a Lightsaber Hilt shooter with targets, more comic strips, The Phantom's secrets and A Fact File on the Cowboy Jedi Kanan Jarrus!! There's also the answers to all of the puzzles in the mag, DON'T LOOK UNTIL YOUR DONE THOUGH YA LITTLE CHEATER!!
Finally, the back page has an A4 poster of Kanan and Sabine!
The Verdict:
Basically, LOTS of puzzles which is good to keep your kids quite on those rainy days in, a great comic strip with a good story, (please note too that these comics ARE considered as CANON!!! WHOOP!!)
I very much look forward to comic strips with the rest of the crew in, especially Zeb!
I like the addition of the fact file's too! Gives the kids a chance to know the nitty gritty about the characters!
GET DOWN TO YOUR LOCAL AND PICK THIS UP!!
