Three new books supporting adult colourists everywhere!
What "I" Thought
What "I" Thought
I had some help from my lovely wife with reviewing these books as she's gone a little mad with these colouring in books.
Firstly there are lots of patterns out there which are just on a white background, these books however contain negatives too! i.e. With a black background, so that's nice.
Now, my wife has lots of pens to colour with, mainly though of only two types. One tends to seep through the pages and the other doesn't. To this end we've seen other books containing patterns which either have the same pattern on the back, therefore still looking OK if the colours seep through, OR a completely blank page so it doesn't ruin a pattern on the back. Unfortunately this has neither and therefore does tend to ruin the pattern on the reverse. Therefore the colourists needs to choose which patter they wish to do.
There are however some very nice Christmassy designs; some magazines and books SAY they are a certain theme and then go on to have only one or two designs which are actually the theme stated.
One thing that really bothered my wife was that some of the areas which needed colouring meet other items therefore either needing all one colour or the colourist having to make their own "lines" to separate the colours/shapes.
The Verdict
Some really nice colouring books, but could be made better with blank rear sides, however PERFECT if you're only using colouring pencils!
Obviously with Christmas coming up, these would be awesome gifts for anyone who likes to colour in! It really does keep you quiet, as I recently learnt with my 6 year old!
