Disney Princess LEGO Reveiw!!

What is it?

It's DISNEY! and the Princesses! and LEGO all in one!

It was only a matter of time before LEGO jumped on the Disney Princesses bandwagon, what with the addition of the Marvel franchise it was high time for something for the girls. These are a brand new concept, with lots more different bricks and even the people themselves differ from the usual blocky trousers and top, the arms are different too, still the same circular head and molded hair though!..

The age range for this set is 5-12, which is spot on I'd say. My son is 5 and he had no trouble following the instructions. To be honest after he got over the "but this is for girls!" and sat down, he really did enjoy putting the pieces together and the satisfaction on his face once he was finished was brilliant! I remember as a kid playing with my LEGO and building alllll kinds of things! LEGO has come a long way, but also stuck to their roots in many ways.

I'd say on an educational level, that LEGO is fantastic for co-ordination, as the pieces are so small your kid needs to really concentrate to get the thing built. I've often thought in the past that my son had AD-HD, he has ants in his pants and can't sit still for more than 2 minutes without having to busy his hands with something. But the LEGO really did keep him occupied for the 40 odd minutes it took him to build it.

What the boy thought!

Well, as per the above, he was a little frustrated that this was a girly set, but I told him it didn't matter and that we were building it for his little sister. Then he was more than happy to build it.

He really did love playing with this set, I always thought he'd be too young to deal with all the pieces. But I'm glad I was wrong, he was so good at following the pictured instructions. Yeah, so he forgot a few little bits but I remember I used to do that as a kid..

My son was also so SO chuffed when he completed it. Following a recent trip to LEGOLAND he's absolutely fallen for LEGO and now Daddy has to spend his payday on it! Which to be honest I don't mind as it keeps him quiet!

The Verdict

Another great piece of kit from LEGO, the girls will go nuts for this new line and a good thing too, LEGO has the "Friends" range but mostly I think LEGO centers on the boys. Not anymore! Just as good as the lines before them, I'm pretty sure these will be a hit!

Sets are available from £11.99 from all good toy shops (or Amazon with discounts! Use the box at the side!).
