Don't like Chocolate Eggs? What about a Dart Gun!?!
What is it?
My first impressions? It's a soft dart gun, which looks great and is a good size.
It boasts sticky darts, so I thought great, will stick to everything and be a nightmare to clean.. i.e. washing with water every 5 minutes, just to play the next game..
WRONG! The darts and target system is fantastic! Its called 'Smart Stick Technology' The gun has a nifty pop up shield which has two ideas in mind, to give your face cover when shooting and also the ability to use your enemy's darts against them! As the shield is made of the same stuff as the targets, the darts stick great, to the shield and the included targets!
I noticed that garden dirt may be a problem, however, just keep a roll of sticky tape handy and you just have to dab the ends, then they're good as new and ready to play with again! This may get a little tiresome in big battles though...

The darts are also made of hollow plastic, instead of the usual foam; these things go up to 70ft! So I reckon the hollow tubes have something to do with that. You can rapidly fire 8 of these bad boys, the barrel turns (or twists in this case) like a Gatling gun!.. I let my son shoot me a few times from about 4ft, although you can feel it hit you, it doesn't hurt at all, so, nice and safe in those respects.
What the boy thought?
What the boy thought?
My son liked playing with the Twisted Spinner, however he did find it quite difficult firing. He was just not strong enough to pull back the arm to fire the dart quickly. Unfortunately aiming was near impossible for him, even for an adult its quite difficult, but for me it only adds to the fun when you're running after your target 'Kamikaze style'!!. The age range is 6+ and this is probably fine. My boy has only just turned 5 so probably a bit young at the moment.
We will however keep at this gun, it's fun for target practice!
The Verdict!
These are some brilliant guns as they shoot so far! I think BOOMco need to take a step back and make some non sticky darts and make them with Velcro instead. This way grime won’t be a problem and the darts would stick to clothes too. I love the look of the guns, very modern and great how the “big gun” of the range is actually still pretty small, so easy for little hands! So many of the guns from other companies are massive so the smaller kids have trouble with them.
I’m considering getting another of these guns, maybe one of the smaller models for my son, then we can both run around like maniacs over Easter!

The blasters retail from around £5.99 for the smallest. The BOOMco Twisted Spinner above RRP is £24.99 which is pretty good considering the build and quality of range of the darts.
