Air Hogz! Titan Glider and Helix X4 Stunt Quad-copter Review!

The Air Hogs Titan! 4 Foot Glider!

(I know! nice finger in the pic right?)

What is it?

The first of two items is a mahusif glider called the Air Hogs Titan!

It really is massive! Not a lot to say about it other than it must have taken around 5 minutes to put together, another 5 minutes to add the stickers. So I got playing with this REALLY quickly. The polystyrene is formed perfectly and as it should; when thrown flies like a dream! Unfortunately, I've not been able to get down the park as yet but there are some massive hills which this glider would take to amazingly!!

What the boy thought

The Titan has a wingspan of around 4 foot, which is pretty darn big! A little too big for my son to play with as he's only 5 (and I'm a little scared he'll trip over with it too!). He can still appreciate the Titan though; after I threw it, he exclaimed "woww!! How does it do that!?

The Verdict

A very cool glider indeed which flies beautifully! Just make sure you fly this over grass as I threw it up my garden and unfortunately my aim was rubbish so one of the wings hit the corner of my shed: this did not however affect the way it flies, it just made a dent on the wing, still no problems there!

The Titan RRP is ONLY £12.99.

Air Hogs R/C ELITE Helix X4 Stunt Quad-copter

What is it?

It's a small-ish quad-copter! With two stunts built in! A really nice size, it's not massive but not tiny either!

After a charge of around 10 minutes (whilst you run around looking for some AA batteries for the remote), you're away! The bluetooth sync from the controller to the Copter is nice and quick and the controls are brilliant, the X4 relates to the 4-Channel control, which you can also switch between beginners or intermediate control!

(Apologies for the stock photo, problems with my camera!!)

What the boy thought

My son thought this was absolutely amazing!! Again he is a little young for this and his co-ordination isn't that great, so once again I took the helm and he was very happy just watching his dear 'ole Dad crash, again and again.. not because of the controls but because I was trying to be clever.. lifting off and landing on/in different places.

My son was also really impressed that I could pull off some great looking stunts! Not my skill unfortunately, there's a VERY nifty slide switch and a button on the controller which allows you to back flip, side flip and also do a very funky looking twist in the air! Very clever and cool to watch!

The only bad thing with the Helix is the material it's built from. I gather it has to be lightweight to be able to fly so is made of polystyrene. This means that you need to be very careful about where you fly and most important; where you land. Just made sure it's grass or similar soft ground (or you could just be careful!).
The first time I played with the Helix I ended up landing heavily and breaking one of the 'feet' at the bottom. This being said, because it's polystyrene, when it breaks it keeps its shape AND a touch of superglue and you'll be playing again in just a few minutes. So not a massive problem, just something you need to be aware of.

The Verdict

All in all a fantastic flyer and SO easy to fix if you do manage to break it! The batteries last brilliantly! On around 10 minutes charge you get about 25 minutes playtime, this also holds a charge VERY well if you don't play with it for a while. Very addictive too, I'm loving trying to perfect my movement and pull off the stunts!

The Air Hogs Helix RRP is £69.99.
