What is it?
Basically it's cooler looking LEGO for big boys. It's a snap together, no glue needed model kit which INCLUDES sound! The idea is that you simply Build and Play!
This particular model it the new T70 X-Wing for the record breaking film Star Wars - The Force Awakens!!
Retractable landing gear, moving "s-foils" (wings) and an opening cockpit make for a very cool toy!
What I thought
Upon opening the box, there were a few plastic cage like things, along with a sound module and instructions. The parts are all painted already (very well painted too I might add!).
The instructions were only a few pages long and worked along the same lines as LEGO, where parts are added to each picture in a slightly different colour and half the fun is to do a kind of spot the difference with the previous page. I'm not sure how long it should take but me and my son put this all together in about 30 minutes! Which is awesome for a model kit! The only thing I ended up doing for him was twisting the pieces of the "cage" at the start and also securing some of the pieces in place (as his little fingers aren't that strong yet).
You can see from the below picture it's a very respectable size for the cost and the sounds are great! I also like that you can remove the landing gear from the wing and retract the front leg too! The sounds are great! I think there's three of them, a fly-by, laser fie and torpedo fire! All activated by pressing BB-8's head!
The Verdict
I loved building this with my son and I already have my sights on the new Tie Fighter from the same range! Although it requires no glue it's very sturdy and the sounds are brilliant fun! My son has already requested a baddie for his birthday so we can play together too!
