Brok the Brachiosaurus is a ’Weally Cool!’ transformable truck-to-dinosaur learning toy. Now, when I saw this in the shops with the £50 price tag, I was thinking, ‘REALLY!? It doesn’t do anything!’ How wrong I was!
Once you've opened the massive box, and got out yer dads pliers to cut the toy free, and put in the 4 x AA batteries necessary to provide the '1.21 gigawatts', Brok really does come to life!
Does it play well?
He's been a joy for my son to play with, and extremely easy to transform; without instructions my son transformed Brok in a few minutes! When asked how he did it, he plainly replied, 'Cos I'm a genius?!, 'Well, obviously' was my best answer! He's also robust and looks brilliant.
In the truck mode, he automatically makes the "brum brum" sounds and you can even change the style of the driver on the digital screen on the front. The "weally cool" part comes though when you load up the lift/ramp with the included Pterodactyl car, pull the lever and send it hurtling down the front of the truck, then (More? I hear you shout!) the removable Pterodactyl then shoots off the car about a metre away!
Now don’t worry about your little one getting hurt by the aforementioned Pterodactyl, as the important bits are a rubbery plastic and couldn't hurt a fly*.
The ramp/lift is also compatible with the other cars of the Switch & Go Dino range.
Once this beast has been transformed, the "beastliness" really does come out! With a few turns and clicks, your child will have a massive Brachiosaurus to play with. At the push of a button, neck turning and roaring sounds are included as standard and there are also motion-activated stomping sounds to accompany the legs moving around as it rolls across the floor. Other buttons make flashing lights accompanied by more dino roars, interesting facts and some general banter from Brok. You can also control the volume (GREAT NEWS!) and also change the style of Brok’s eyes.
All in all, your little one will spend hours making up scenes and stomping Brok along the floor! This is a fantastic addition to our home and the Switch & Go Dino's range!
Any Negatives?
Unfortunately Brok doesn’t do the washing up or the ironing and also doesn’t realistically deserve the £50 price tag that so many shops abide by.
Price and where can you get it?
You may have to hunt around for this a bit as I've seen them on sites for as little as £30, however with rising popularity you could end up paying as much as £50.
Here are a few sites which are pretty good:
Happy hunting!!
*please note, this is not factual, just a saying - no flies were hurt in the making of this review.
