News! #Boardgameclub! Here we go again!

Board Game Club

What's All The Fuss About?

Hey there Boardgame fans! Another fantastic night prepared by Playtime PR and Toyologist!

As always, there is a main event prepared and last night was no different:

The Main Event - Marmite! Love it or Hate it?

This game is good clean fun (albeit a little Marmitey..) for Family and friends and even new friends that don't know anything about each other! It's from the creators Pants on Fire! They took on the Dragons not too long ago and were backed By Duncan Bannatyne and Peter Jones!

The aim of the game is to collect 6 pieces to make a jigsaw of a nice vintage Marmite picture. You do this by spinning a wheel to depict a "Love it" or "Hate it" or "Unique", then you need to turn over a card and everyone writes down 3 of what ever the card says i.e. I now know that Richard from the Pants On Fire guys hates Smoked Mackerel and Anchovies (Richard spun a Hate It and Fish was on the card)!!

It's a great game in two ways. One if you know your friends it's great to be right! Or two, you can learn alot about someone from just a few rounds of this game! It's perfect for parties and would be great around the table after a nice Christmas meal!

A nice touch was also that Marmite Cocktails were available at the bar! yes they have MARMITE in them! See the Bottom of the page for the ingredients!

Bucket Of DoooooOOOOOOOOM!!!

Another great game which was being "headlined", it's a new Kickstarter project which you can back RIGHT NOW! It has a great concept where everyone has 6 item cards and each turn has to make up a story using them to escape impending doom!! It's a great games with the same humour and expects the same gameplay as Cards Against Humanity. The Badults are certainly being spoilt with the amount of new games coming out for their demographic.

The kids were not forgotten as there are some lighter questions and answers which could be made for kids, my advice is to just take out the bad ones beforehand!

For more information on Bucket of Doom or Big rocks other games, visit their Kickstarter page!

More Great games in the mix!

Moustache Smash! -

From Spin Master, it works a little like "Snap" but with cards and mustaches!! So much frantic fun! My 5 year old would absolutely go mental for this game! This was played on the night and we were going crazy! Especially as the alcohol was flowing! (I in no way condone drinking when playing games with a small child)

The aim of the game is to smash (with your sucker moustache) as many cards which match either the colour or style of your moustache! It's great fun!

For more info on Moustache Smash on Spin Masters website

Shark Mania -

Also from Spinmaster, the aim of the game is to get you (very detailed and cute pirate) from your boat at one end to the other (where there's obviously some loot!).
Roll the dice and choose to take coins or run away from the Shark, as he's FAST! Be too slow and you'll be thrown off the rickety bridge! The winner is the one who reaches the treasure with the most coins.

For more info and pictures, visit Spin Masters website!

Bounce Off -

I didn't get to play this one, but it takes alot of skill.

The aim of the game is to bounce the balls onto the game board and match a chosen card. Ping pong balls are used, great for groups at the table after the Christmas meal! Not so great after drinks..Balls may fly!

For more details about Bounce Off, see Mattel's website!

Coup -

A game for liars, cheaters and thieves! Use your best poker face to bluff and double bluff your opponents! It really is the game of "scum and villainy".

Using cards and tokens the aim is to take, steal or loot your enemies by using the face cards of various classes e.g. Duke, Assassin, Contessa etc. these classes have special abilities and values to knock the other classes out e.g. The Contessa can stop an Assassin from..assassinating (and therefore taking your tokens).

You'll need your brain for this one and it may be a little beyond me.. Looked fun though for poker lovers and strategists!

Previously a Kickstarter campaign which has since gone mega, just look

Timeline -

This was a good one with a really simple concept. You each have 5 cards all face up in front of you and on each turn you need to add a card to the big timeline being created in the middle of the table, the year is printed on the back so you place the card where you think it goes and then turn it over to see if you're correct. If you're wrong that card goes back in the pack and you have to draw another, the first one to rid all their cards first, WINS!

This game was good fun, and I can see it being a hit with the older generation and also those who are taking History at school.

For for information and pictures of the fantastic art on the cards, go here!

Game of Thrones - Westeros Intrigue

This game is another strategy based game whereby you again need to get rid of all your cards. I didn't play this game so I'm not sure how many cards you start with, but its all about building the pyramid using the colours on the cards, of which there are four. You can stack a silver on top of silver and red cards, but not a yellow one..

This game is a tad bit brainy for me I think.. not too great with these.

Have a look at the website for more details!

Some of the previously reviewed games were present too:

Bananagrams! (this is the link to my related review!)
Dix it
