What is it?
It's the new famous brand game from Drumond Park! WITH BELLS ON!
The idea of the game is that you set out your game area (9 cards from the shuffled pack) face up so you can see the pictures. From the bag of bell'ed dice you choose four to roll. Once rolled, as quickly as you can you must shout out the named brand that matches one of the letters on one of the dice (while at the same time, GRABbing that dice!).. we're not quite done..
THEN, if the dice has a bell inside, then you've lost and have to put the card back, if it doesn't, then you win that card and can add to your set. The first player to get two sets of the same colour cards,WINS! EASY PEESY!
What the boy thought
My son was thrilled with this game, he's getting right into his reading and writing at the moment and as this game works on matching the letter on the dice to the first letter of the brand, it was a great opportunity for him to get some learning in!
He loved this game! he's so blimin' quick! he was giggling and laughing the whole way and when he won, the neighbours knew it too! "I WIIINNN I WINNNN!, this is a cool game!" were he words and also "Let's play again!" came up alot! then there was the nicely smarmy "I beat a grown up and I'm only 5".. yep.. rub it in mate..
Oh yeah, he loved it when I shook the dice and it was a menacing bell!!! grrr!!!
The Verdict
This really is a fun game and although it's for ages 8+, you'd do well to play with your brighter younger kids if you can! Even if you use only a select few and get your little one to learn them first.. then you can play the game with just those they know. It's all good in my mind!
