Here's just a few of whats on offer and a review of the Air Hogs Megabomb I managed to get my hands on!
What is it?
It's an indoor Remote Control helicopter with the added ability of being able to drop bombs!
The helicopter is a great shape and looks quite stealthy. It comes with two bombs, one which opens upon contact with the floor and shoots 3 missiles! The other is a sticky missile which can be played with the also included target which comes apart when it's hit.
What we thought
My son thought this was so cool, he wanted to play with it straight away! It only took around 20 minutes to charge for around 30 minutes "play time". You may notice in the picture there's a lock over the "big red button" which just adds more character to the controls.
The bomb (which fires the missiles once it hits the floor) is quite flimsy and you really need to be careful when loading, otherwise it will pop open unexpectedly. The other bomb is my personal favourite and you can play with the target provided (in the above picture) or any other form of target, figures are good fun to bomb!
I would say you need to be a moderately experienced "Heliflyer" as you'll need to set the controls while in the air. When you first start you may find your copter will spin out of control..pretty annoying really and would be much better if it was stabilised somehow. It may have something to do with the different materials used to build it? not sure.. I'm no expert, but it is pretty difficult to fly, once you get the hang of it though, it's pretty fun and the one player 'drop the bomb on the target' is quite fun.
I would say the difficulties are only made easier when you know you got a good deal on this. Half price is really good for a helicopter of this design, but I can't see myself paying the full RRP of £40.
To be completely honest I'm not completely enamoured with this helicopter, Air Hogs have really done some great ones in the past, which I've reviewed. But this one just doesn't do the brand justice. I just think more time should go into the control of the r/c instead of what you can do with it.. that will all come later.
Currently £20 at ASDA, get there before they all go!
