Star Wars Command Toy Reveiw!

What is it?

This line of toys really confused me when it first came out. Things with Star Wars always seemed to be futuristic and fun ideas.. e.g. motion lightsaber toys, Nerf type blasters and others which used today's tech to make the toys fun.

These however are miniature figures, around 2" in size, to be used like army soldiers. They come with no instructions but the general idea is that you affix a vehicle to the 'pull back and go' car type module and 2 players take it in turns knock down each others figures. It seems like a very simple game and almost any age can play. Perhaps to bring back the 70's army and marble fun into the 00's? I'm not sure..

What I thought

They went on sale quite cheap the other week so I decided to give them a go. The set above I purchased came with 22 figures and vehicles, two of the vehicles are 'pull back and go'.

On the flip-side, which is worth noting, the actual casts for each of the figures is actually quite impressive and the plastic used it pretty sturdy. You can see from the picture on the left an example of the good casting.

On THIS site, you'll see that a lot of people have been taking advantage of these cheap and paint-able figures.

The sets are on sale at Smyths Toys at the moment for £5 for the above set, there are TONS of others available with span the 2 Trilogies AND the Rebels series. There's even a remote control Star Destroyer which flips open and fires mini Death Stars!!

The Verdict

A nice surprise really, I expected to hate these sets and thought them plain and boring, but in reality and actually playing with them, they're quite fun. I'm going to introduce these to my son VERY soon!

Find them in stores from about £5 - £35, which is also a plus in itself, its a "game"/collection of toys which shouldn't really cost you that much if you're a 'completest' and unlike the Star Wars Miniatures line, this WON'T break the bank!! A VERY COOL ALTERNATIVE!!
