HAPPY (Belated!) STAR WARS DAY!! May The Forth (OK, now Fifth) Be With You!
What is it?
This is the new book from Author Chris Taylor, also Editor of Mashable.
This is a great book, which takes a look into all things Star Wars and quite basically how it has effected all realms of our life, From the media side of things taking into account the industries of books, comics, films and even our every day lives. At the start of this book there's a great investigation Taylor gets into and he manages to find people who has never had ANY contact with the Star Wars franchise. A great little story leads him to one guy, a Native American who lived out in the wilds, and had never even heard of George Lucas and his Star Wars..the funny thing is, he actually turned out to not like it! I'm sure much to the dismay of Chris.. and me to that fact! It would have been great if the guy loved it as much as us!
I must admit, I had to read a little of the end of the book, which brings Taylor's story to a close, but not before he talks about the arrival of the famous Black Friday release of the 1st Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer! Which was pretty epic. Chris goes into the in's and out's of this trailer and describes it perfectly, along with other amazing tid-bits of information!
Excuses..
I wanted to get this post out for the 4th May, however I fear I may have missed the boat..I was able to pick this up from the wonderful team at FMcM Associates on Thursday and my weekend was taken up by family stuffs! Therefore I've not had massive amounts of time to read it :( I have however read a few chapters and have also flipped across all the chapters so I get the jist of what Taylor is speaking about..
It was quite mad actually, upon reading the snippets across this book (which span through YEARS of Star Wars history) I knew about ALL the topics! I must be quite a big fan! hehe,, (This I already knew though!!)
The Verdict!
It's an all encompassing account of what's happened with Star Wars in the media and behind the camera, and also in fandom, it really does cover all bases and I WILL be reading from front to back, as you should too!
Chris Taylor has undeniably written an amazing book here, and I'll finish this review only to say that he has put words which for me, describe the Star Wars and it's universe in three amazing words..
"..giant psychic orgasm.." just perfect..!
I'm back from my Hols now and it's due to be my read for the foreseeable!!
This book was released in Hardback on May 4th and RRP's at £20.. Please do yourself a favour and order a copy!!!
