What is it?
This is basically an UPGRADE of the amazing game X-Wing, the strategy, turn based "Boardgame". HOWEVER, there are a few AWESOME changes! One quite major difference is the evolution of the Tie Fighter, they now have shields! They didn't in the original game. The X-Wings have not been forgotten either!
It's packed with new images and exclusive Miniatures, namely of the Resistances' new Blue and white T-70 X-Wing and The First Orders' Tie Fighters! There's also new character and action cards!
In the box, there's all the goodies you need to play your first game, including a "learn to play" booklet which shows you a nicely detailed and very easy to follow instructions.
What I Thought
Firstly the actual miniatures themselves are amazingly cast and the paint job on them is top notch! Once you see these, you'll be saying "What's micromachines?" as they're pretty much the same size..
I really like the way all the pieces are packaged neatly into the small box, it really helps to keep the space you need down, while keeping everything nice!
The set up time is really quick, all you need is a square 3 feet and you're sorted! All the pieces to get started are included, cards,dice, the ships and all the directional/moving rulers you need.
The game itself is so well put together, with just four simple phases for every turn, even a donut like me easily got to grasps with the simple rules pretty quickly!
I even managed to have a few games with my six year old! I had to remind him a few times of the phases, but he was soon telling me what to do! He soon got the hang it and was soon plotting to do away with my lone X-Wing.. He's already said I need to get some more Tie fighters!
We were only playing the Tutorial game with simple rules to start with, but we have started to introduce some of the more difficult parts of the game, basically just adding the action tokens. I can see this game being one he asks me about time and time again.. he, we BOTH really enjoyed it.
Time really flies while playing this too, we managed three games of about 30 minutes each.
There's loads of extra ships to buy from the previous core set, the same rules apply so you can mix and match! Personally, I'm gonna get myself the Millennium Falcon!!
The Verdict
A truly AWESOME experience goes with this game and ALOT of fun!! Last-ability is there too, due to the different missions/campaigns you can play and the expansions (ships and more missions) you can purchase!!

Seriously, do yourself a favour and BUY THIS! Or if you're partial, get the Original Core Set and save a few pounds! Both core sets RRP at £24.99!! Either of these would make great Christmas presents!
