You Don't Know the Power of the Dark Side..

So, in light of the impending Star Wars Episode 7 - The Force Awakens movie release, I've been showing my son all the films. We started with Episode 1, with the pretence of doing the films in order of series. i.e. 1 through to 6. I thought it best to do it this way so my son could see the rise of Anakin and Darth Vader, this is also as George (Lucas) would have like people to view originally.

He has fallen a little bit in love with Star Wars ever since watching Star Wars - Rebels! (Quite rightly so too!!)

As my son watched Episode I could see the excitement in his face as he watched Anakin, in the podrace especially. He loved it, more so than I myself. For you haters out there, Jar Jar Binks made his laugh on a number of occasions! I do believe this character is wayyy under-appreciated, Lucas always said that Star Wars was a move for kids, and Episode 1 with Jar Jar is just that, he is a childish character and it shows with all his bumblings!

We also watched Episode 2 and my son again favoured Anakin as his favourite character, he's young and has a lightsaber and the fact he jumps out of moving cars onto others is just "WEALLY COOL". The fight sequences in Episode 2 are pretty good too, the battle on Geonosis being one and the other being the duel with Count Dooku. My son was gutted when Anakin lost his arm and was also worried for Anakins' future!

I asked him who his favourite character was for confirmation (already knowing what he'd say), and he obviously replied "Anakin". It's easy to understand why, he's the youngest of the cast and the main character, and pinnacle of the story. My son also said that he even though he knows that Anakin turns into Darth Vader (the baddest guy in the universe (bar the Emperor of course!)) he loves him.

Following my purchase of my own lightsaber, my son now wants his own (YOU CAN TOO!) with a RED blade. I said "you know that red blades are bad right?" "yeah I know, but I can pretend I turn good, it's only a colour". This was actually quite nice to hear and very refreshing, especially from a 6 year old! I personally always liked the idea of my characters being good but a bit bad, and his idea of being bad and turning good is just magic, AND follows the story of the Episode 6! Maybe, just MAYBE he knows this already somehow??

THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE!
